My amp is crackling and volume drops in and out randomly. Also if I lightly hit it when this problem is occurring it will go back to normal. What is happening?

No, what happens when you move the jack around in the input? Does that effect the problem at all? Is there anything you can do to make the problem worse?
A little more information would help. What happened when the issue started? Are the tubes old or new? Could it be the speakers/cab? Have you tested different cables? Is anything running into the amp, like an effects board? Does it happen with different guitars?

I'm pretty sure it's a tube problem. Check and see if all of your Power tubes are lit. It could also be a preamp tube going bad.
