A Pearl Redburst 7 string was brutalized en route to a customer. After replacing the customer's gutiar, I decided to purchase the broken carcass for myself, and have some fun with it. Here's the repaired, repainted, and re-assembled result, a triple color-shift sparkle:

Damn, that's one pretty axe! Very nice work with the paint.

How bad was it damaged?

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful :yesway:

I might be more into it if it wasn't $1000 over what it should be.

It reminds me of like maybe a 70's muscle car, or a roller derby. I remember when I was a kid back in the 70's, there were all kinds of things that had that sparkly/metal flake look. They always had these iron-ons (anyone remember those?) you could put on a shirt, with lots of m,etal flake. Like a metal flake Hulk, or Sheryl Teigs.

Nice job, at any rate. Certainly unique.

Where do you see a price?
I get the feeling he's talking about all JP7s, and how they're overpriced for a production model guitar not build in America.

At least, that's what it usually is.

Ah.
But they are built in the US.

Ah, my mistake. It's probably still the "overpriced production model" thing, along with the "overhyped signature model" thing.

How many US-made production 7 strings are there currently on the market?

2. The Carvin and the JP7, and Carvin carries, well, the "I can't buy it in a store" stigma. (I'm not counting the small builders that ONLY build 7s to order.)

They're nice guitars. Expensive, but still cheaper than mine was - and, as every JEM and UV owner knows, you *always* pay more for an "artist model" - but they're exremely high-quality guitars, or at least the one I played was.

Nah I just think they're way overpriced for the features you're recieving. I'd say the same thing about the Universe and I own/love those. When you're getting in the $1899 range, you're paying above custom shop prices for a production guitar with inexpensive components. Basswood, maple, bolt-on construction, solid-color finishes, rosewood fretboards, i mean these are all cheap. For close to $2000 you should be getting AAAA quilt tops, ebony boards, definitely the piezo option enabled, neck-thru, etc etc.

Doesn't mean it's not a great guitar, it's just IMHO a rip-off at the prices they ask for new. Ask Noodles what he paid for his custom shop 7. I bet it's no more than $1300-1400. I paid $1250 for mine, full blown custom with tons of expensive options. I have a Universe, equally as overpriced, but I only paid $1099 for mine so in that range it's a lot more reasonable.

There's just no other way to rationalize those prices from a value standpoint.
