While I fear that this may be a dead fish, please feel free to redirect me to any pre-existing thread discussing the topic!

I've been searching for something to remotivate me to learning new (to me) riffs and songs on guitar. I've even taken up learning flute due to boredom with what I already know.

So I ask all of you, the wonderful people of these forums, what are the songs you consider the most fun to play? For me, I've always considered Waking The Demon (Bullet for my Valentine) and Face of My Innocence (Arsis, 2006 version) to be the most fun to play in my repertroire. But... I need more. So, dear forumers, I appreciate any input!

Maybe not the answer you’re looking for but if you’re getting bored with it I suggest a different approach. Do you have access to a drummer or drum software? It sounds like you can play guitar and you know some songs and riff. Do you ever jam to a drum track or with a live drummer?

I always get a kick out of playing Satch and Vai tunes like "Satch Boogie", "Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing", "Answers", "The Audience is Listening", "Attitude Song" etc...

For modern music there's some fun Revocation songs out there that are tabbed through Sheet Happens. If you wanna mix things up with alternate tunings, try some Opeth songs from Ghost Reveries.

I've also begun transcribing music that isn't readily available using audio software to slow things down. I get a sense of satisfaction playing something that I've figured out on my own. I recently transcribed James Murphy's version of "Odyssey" and Marty Friedman's "Viper"

I've been having alot of fun learning old first wave black metal songs lately. My fretting hand doesn't have any issues but I'm trying to get more consistent/faster with my tremolo picking so they let me focus more on my picking. But mostly it's just fun to pretend to be kvlt when I'm home alone
For context: this is after years of me having absolutely no desire to learn songs written by other people and only focusing on writing my own stuff. I've just now gotten to a point where I wanna try and write stuff outside of my own ability to play (that classic thing where you can hear the riff plainly in your head but can't seem to make it happen irl).
Honestly if you're lacking motivation to learn other people's riffs/already learned the songs you wanna learn then apply the knowledge & chops you've built up to write some of your own stuff.

Twilight by Abstracts, Voyager by Novelists, March Of The S.O.D. by S.O.D., Akudama by Alpha Wolf, The Hammer by Kublai Khan, Blue Sun by Destiny Potato, Kill Your Mother by Dying Fetus, You Will Never Be One of Us by Nails, and Dystopia by TesseracT are all incredibly fun to play

I like Mea Culpa from The Human Abstract (for both the verse and solo stuff). I also like zyglrox from Periphery. Both of those are super fun to play. And then for old school stuff I love Bark at the Moon (Ozzy) and Lay it Down (Ratt). I supposed pretty much any VH stuff would be fun, too.

I also like Keith Merrow's riffs off the first two of his albums.

I really enjoy the riffs in Dark Eternal Night by DT. The opening ones are great but after all the madness, that end riff is a lot of fun.

Always With Me, Always With You is another fun one.

The atmospheric stuff before, during and after the solo in Straws Pulled at Random.

I love cranking out some Extreme riffs. Decadence dance and he man woman hater are such fun riffs to play.

Also snortin' whiskey by Pat Travers.

I recently bought the official Guitar Pro tabs for Unearth's The Oncoming Storm. I forgot how great some of these riffs are. Having a lot of fun learning one of my favorite albums from high school. :yesway:

I love the Extreme riffs too, Kid Ego, Get the Funk Out, Suzi... all the riffs on Pornograffiti are a lot of fun. Still of the Night is also a goto one and I'm the One by VH, Kiss of Death by Dokken. First riff I play as soon as I pick up any 7string is Where the Slime Lives
Ohh a random one I really love is Bee Gees Staying Alive, the Dweezil Zappa version from his Confessions album
