Ok.... Sit back and uncork a bottle, cause this is going to be a long one. Some of the commentary is Colin's from his flickr page, and some's me. Only fitting, as this was a joint effort of epic proportions.
First, a little supplimental reading. If you're unfamiliar with the story, start here and do not pass go, do not collect $200 before reading. Do not collect $200 anyway, actually, at least not from me, but it sounded nice.

The night is August 30th. I fly out to Pittsburgh the morning of the 31st, so we have to finish up a day early. No worries, Colin and I are professional lushes so we feel we have the situation under control. The battlefield as the troops square off and the (glue) guns are pulled out:
First, some refreshments:
Colin: "This foil cutter sliced through the protective layer of about 500 bottles of wine in a year. Definitely got my money's worth on that one."
Colin: "The last bottle of 1992 Chateau Julien to celebrate completion of the corkwall."
And the bottle is opened.
Colin: "What a joyous sound. Whenever I hear a cork disgorge, my mouth starts watering."
Our latest roommate, Laralynne, decides to see what all the fuss is:
Elizabeth, that traitor, had decided to go out to trivia night at a dive bar down the street. Oh well, she drinks Charles Shaw most of the time anyway.
I pour a glass, Colin (He of Perpetual Metal Horns) ups the horns.
Colin: "There was only one appropriate album to listen to as we completed the Wall"
Drew: "I was sober here, even if I really didn't look it."
Colin: "I suggested a curved design that would flare well over our goal of window frame, but Drew was skeptical. When we counted out the corks and it literally came out to the exact count of corks we would have after the evening, there was no denying it."
Drew: "Actually, we were two corks shy, when we decided. We'd just opened the first bottle though, so we figured it'd only be appropriate to open at least one more for such a historic occasion. Clearly, the Wine Gods were smiling on us, and my doubts were assuaged."
Colin: "...and the design was deemed true."
Another gratuitous full-frontal design shot.
And, what the hell, one more.
Colin: "LLs gets to glue her first cork onto the wall."
And Colin's turn.
EPIC PICSTORY MOMENT!
The Wall, in all it's originally intended glory, is complete. Within one year, Sempember 1st 2006 through August 31st 2007, we have consumed enough wine to cover the space between these two windows with corks. We are rockstars. We are metal. We are true as fuck. We are deemed true.
But wait, what are all those corks out front doing...?
We will answer this pressing question, and more, after this intermission where we stop for another bottle of wine.
Colin: "Pop! (again)"
Colin: "Its not enough to drink wine, or even expensive wine. It must be consumed from a crystal decanter."
Drew:
Colin: "Drew decants the Brunello."
Drew: "Both wines we had that night were excellent, incidently. The Chateau Julien ('92, I think...?) we'd had a few bottles of by now, and was exceptional every time. And this brunello was initially pretty good, but after it'd had about 20 or 30 minutes to open up became, well, I remember one moment when Colin and I took a break from gluing to hydrate a bit, each took a sip, and looked up at each other as if to say, "Oh. That just got really good."
We resume. We decide to glue all the corks inside the arch in first, so we're sure we get the curve right.
Colin: "The first of 20 champagne-style corks in a keystone flare."
Colin: "The second to last cork is affixed into place."
Colin: "Teamwork: Dizzle gets a cork from LLs, and applies the glue."
Colin: "Drew glues the final cork."
Colin: "Drew hands off the final cork with glue applied."
*drumroll*
The last cork! Colin's expression says it all.
The wall, completed in all its' glory. I think we were playing "In the Flesh?" at, like, maximum decible-age at this moment.
We prepare a celebratory toast.
Another perspective shot. The Official Wine Glass of Stanford Terrace is Crate and Barrel's "Natalie" design. Why, do you ask? We answer, "because it holds 25 ounces of wine."
Colin: "Drew and LLs measure the Wall--56 inches. That's 4 feet 8 inches of corks."
Drew counts the wall.
Colin: "It took 4 roommates, countless parties, 365 days, 365 hangovers, and over $10,000, but we drank almost 500 bottles of wine."
And a final shot of the top of the wall:
