Does anyone know any good music shops in Paris and it's surroundings? I'm heading there tonight. Preferably where the staff can talk and understand English

There's one on the Champs Elysees (or there was in 2008). I can't find it on google but its a large, GC type store...definitely a chain. They stocked a lot of ESPs and stuff. Cool shop. It was near FNAC if I remember correctly, and the staff talked with me and my girlfriend no problem (gf actually spoke the language but for once didn't have to play translator). :)

Check out the Virgin megastore while you're there!

Haha alright! As long as I find some good metal records and a shirt or two, it's worth it! :)

What ? A GC type store in champs élysées? I leave the country for a few years and they do this...

More seriously, most music stores are situated around metro Pigalle/Blanche in rue Victor Macé and around. The street is littered with them shops.

As Andromalia said, most of the music stores are just on the south side of Pigalle, on rue Victor Masse' and neighbouring streets. Everytime I visit I tend to get confused about the opening hours, though. :)

There is this one on the other side of the Seine river. Guitars Rebellion - Contact
high end gear (but have some edwards & Ltd too) so you have to phone them to take an appointment. It is closed otherwise as it works like a private showroom.

I advise you to avoid Pigalle stores the saturday, the guys are especially unpleasant because of the crowd.

If it's instruments you're after, can't really help. But there's an awesome metal CD/vinyl shop called R'N'Roll Voltage. Sadly they don't have a website but I managed to find their address

R'N'ROLL VOLTAGE
HARD ROCK
23, Rue du Roi de Sicile 75004 - Metro: Saint Paul

Managed to get some pretty awesome vinyls from there in the past. However I should probably mention, I think it was 2007 when I was there last. Got no idea whether it's still there.

Couldn't find that shop in the Champs that you talked about... And the shops by pigalle/rome weren't interesting at all
