7 long days, and it's done!!! It's called The Raven 7.
raven project 16.jpg

WOO HOO!!! I've been designing this for weeks and finally began the building process last week. I've never taken on such a big project before. It was SOOOO worth it!

Here's the link to the whole project slideshow. It's only 18 images, so it doesn't take long.

not to keen on the pickup rings but thats a sweet looking body shape :metal:

Edit: pretty unique way of making it too, i bet that helped with the quick turnaround of the build

sounds like broken glass getting stomped on.

Edit: Whoever left me negative rep, it's not a bad thing. It's inside joke with a friend of mine that metal sounds like broken glass getting stomped on. jeez people are sensitive these days.

The way you made it was quite awesome!

I'm going to have to actually try that...

You guys are being way harsh. I think he did a good job. So what if it's not how we'd design it, it's his custom. I think it's pretty cool :yesway:

It looks like an intellegent and inexpensive way to get a custom guitar made! Why epoxy on the neck, though?

Who's "you guys" and how is it "harsh?"

I just said it was unique. Hyperbole, anyone? You can be so dramatic sometimes, Nick.

It's just opinions. ;)

What was the guitar you butchered?

It was a 1 hour old Washburn WG-587. I bought it just so I could cut it up. I needed a starter neck and a neck joint.

That's a cool guitar. How does it sound?

Sounds big as hell! It already has better sustain than my Ibanez 7620s. It came into intonation amazingly well The saddles are closer to a straight line than I've ever seen.

It looks like an intellegent and inexpensive way to get a custom guitar made!

I had all the hardware and electronics left over from an miserable piece of crap Ergo 7 Custom I had made. So, yes, it was amazingly cheap to build.

Why epoxy on the neck, though?

I shaved the neck pocket down to get the strings 1/2 inch off the body. Then, to make a really solid joint, I filled the joint with JB Weld and bolted the neck on. Now it has the strength and sustain more like a fixed neck guitar. It worked great.

sounds like broken glass getting stomped on.

No, that's only if I try to play jazz...NOT!

Thanks for the responses! I'm gonna go play it some more.

Schweet! Looks kinda Ibanez Destroyerish Haloish.

I think Duero already named his guitar the Raven, if I'm not mistaken, so be forewarned. ;)

Oh yeah, more pictures!

Thanks for the warning. This is just for me, so I'm not worried about the name thing. I call it the Raven because of the raven's beak image I used to design the upper and lower horns.

Oh yeah, more pictures!

All the pics I have are at the Photobucket link on the original post. There are 18 in all. I didn't wanna go crazy with the photos.

Thanks.
