Sup fellas? Hope you're all doing well. Just wanted to share some pictures of my new rig. After owning a Kemper for close to a year, I decided to sell it. I'm barely playing nowadays, but when I saw this amp I had to have it. '99 Dual Recto Blackface, Rev G. Sounds crushing! Also got an EVH 412 yesterday since I didn't have a cab. So far only running a Protone Dead Horse in the front. All I need to get is a noise supressor and a delay.

I've been wanting one of these for a long time, and after seeing Fit For An Autopsy live and talking with Tim about his, I been on the lookout.

So without further ado, here it is:

Nice, I just got a '00 triple myself. Build quality is nuts, didn't even have to glean the pots.

HNAD! I'm pretty surprised FFAA uses rectos- I just assumed with the tightness of the music that it was 5150s across the board. Do you know if Putney uses them too?

Awesome!

I'm thinking that is actually from earlier though, due to the pointer-style knobs.
It was around the 10,000-11,000 (97-98) when they switched (back actually) to the knurled knobs IIRC.

Does it have the detachable power chord? Mind giving the approximate serial #?

Oh, and also what tubes it come with, the str420:cool:?

Thanks fellas!

Vick, yes they are! This one belonged to an artist of a big Deathcore band, so it needed a little TLC, because it has its bumps and bruises, but still works like a charm.

Plumb, when I saw them Tim was using a modded 2 channel recto, and Pat was using a Mark V with mesa cab.

Trenchlord, the Serial is R-0125XX. It does have a detachable power cord. The tubes right now are JJ 6l6GC's, but I'm considering switching them. Any recommendations?

I just pay a few$ more and get the stock mesa440 tubes. I think they're selected rebranded Ruby.
I've tried their str447 (which are EH I thinks) and as much as I like them for what they do well I still just can't do without that big 6L6 depth.

I feel you. I thought about getting EL34's or KT77's but I'm still unsure. I need to get new tubes for sure.

Tubes Kits for Mesa Dual Rectifier

I just ordered a complete metal kit for my tri-rec, with the Ruby EL34 BHTs. I prefer the mids of EL34s to 6L6s. Pretty expensive for the tri-rec though ($230 shipped), but I expect good things from what I have heard.

Another thing I am considering is putting a rev C/D spec gain pot on the red channel, 1meg versus 500K, as done here...

I have a matched quad of E34Ls if you want to try them, I know they can be hard on grid resistors though, just PM me if you want them.

Thanks for sharing that, Vick! Definitely looks easy, just need to find the parts. I've also read about the E34L's being kinda hard on the amp. I do appreciate it though! Thanks!

Hm. EVH cab means G12M-EVH, or in other words Heritage series Greenbacks. I wonder how that works out with a Recto, rather than the traditional V30?

I really dig it. It sounds comparable to a V30, without the mid spike. It also sounds creamier. Really liking it. Cab feels solid as hell, too.

Fvckin rig of death right there. Love early Rectos dude. HNAD!

Why switch out from the Kemper? Not playing as much and it's a big chunk of change to sit there unused or just wanted to go back to tubes?

Thanks man. Yeah, it was just a lot of money sitting here and not getting used. I got this whole half stack for less than the going rate of a normal dual recto head, so it was a no-brainer, haha.
