Major +1 here. Especially the string quartet in Homegenic.

Yes sir, Homegenic FTW. One day I will do an indust/destructo version of Pluto.

Here's mine:
Kronos Quartet
Republica
Yanni (my stepdad turned me on to him, amazing)
Chick Corea (my stepdad again...)
Bjork (of course...)

a very interresting thread idd! :yesway:

i listen to all kinds of -thought through- videogame music, to name some "well known" *cough* composers:

Yasunori Mitsuda (chrono series)
Nobuo Uematsu (ff series)
Hiroki Kikuta (most of mana series)
Koji Kondo (mario/zelda series)
etc etc

well.. that list could go on for all eternity with unfamiliar japanese names :p

loads of lounge/ambient/psytrance/electrojazz such as:

Zero 7
Air
Thievery Corporation
Shpongle
Aes Dana
Entheogenic
etc etc

that list could also go on forever with weird hitech futuristic names :p

some 70's rock bands that might not be as famous as zep/bs/dp and those bands, like:

budgie
captain beyond
eloy
kansas
etcetc

+ fuckinginfinity! for John Carpenter, he's one of my biggest atmospheric/synth influences... not to mention that more movies of his are on my fav's list than anyone else. :agreed: Oh yeah, add Jan Hammer!

As for me, many that were mentioned here, Seal, Supertramp, Billy Idol, Tears For Fears (needs to hear 'Mad World' now!!!) Massive Attack, The Police (but not post-Police sting), The Moody Blues, and the like. I guess my biggest non-guitarist/rock/metal/etc. pleasure would be jazz... traditional three-piece kinda stuff, as well as some fusion and modern tangents. Just no syrupy sax 'n' croon crap.
