certainly not the BEST, but Pantera - Floods solo makes me cry. i've yet to encounter any other music or song that can do that to me.

These ones always stand out in my mind:

Jimi Hendrix - Red House: "...that's alright, I still got my guitar...look out now!"

Van Halen - Spanish Fly: No explanation needed

Scar Symmetry - Kaleidoscopic God: Love every Per Nillson solo

311 - Beautiful Disaster: Just has a special place in my heart lol

Soilwork- Room No. 99: As with Nillson, pretty much any of Peter Wichers' old solos are great.

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody: Classic song, classic solo by one of the most underrated guitarists in rock history (Brian May)

Wichers style really speaks to me. So simple and melodic, but awesome.

Other end of the scale to most of these solo's. John Scofield at his best, and even my MUM likes this solo! It tugs you one way then the next, it's dynamic, it's rich in harmony. Perfect! Plus the song is amazing, pure pocketfest!

Solo starts around 2:04, but stick around for a spine-tingly sax solo around 4:15

I am a huge Sco fan but that is Jon Herington not Sco

Cheers

Dream Theater Shattered Fortress - Solo starting approx. 1:15
it has a great mix of fast shred parts and parts with lots of feeling (yes I know I had too much distortion on this take =))

Judas Priest - Ram it down - solo starting like 3:00 (most genius double guitar solo of all time imho)

another one that comes to my mind would be Scar Symmetry - both solos in Holographic Universe. Still need to practice a couple of centuries to play those though hehe.

Without really thinking too hard bout it coz then my list would be like 1000 songs long.... would shout out for:

- Hendrix - anything tbh but favorite is Little Wing.... beautiful song and singing solo
- Van Halen - Ice Cream Man (though again pick one! The man is GOD as far as I am concerned!)
- Death - Painkiller (Priest Cover) Shred-tastic!! :metal:
- Richie Kotzen - How Blue Can you Get off the LA Blues Authority Album
- Pantera - Suicide Note Pt 2 or This Love can't decide....
- Steve Vai - For the Love of God

Too many others now rushing in to my head!! So gonna stop there! haha!!

Threat Signal - Counterbalance (2:55 - 4:18)

Thats how solos should be done.

Glad someone brought this up! Such a cool, well-phrased solo. Under Reprisal is one of my favorite albums ever! It's a shame they didn't stay together with that original lineup...
