Hey guys, on my eternal hunt for more guitar on CL I found an ibanez 7! Unfortunatly the seller failed to include any pictures and says he has no camera. Luckily he gave me the serial number.

According to my research this is an 7320 made in the year 2000 in Fujigen...but...I was under the impression 7320's were never made in Japan and strictly indo? Help?

Did he say whether the neck is bound? If its not bound then its probably a 7621, the hardtail version of the 7620.
7321's have always been MII.
Also, the neck could have been changed to a Japanese one. The pickup tabs will give it away, an RG7620 will have triangular routes for the mounting tabs, 742X and 7321 is squared.

That's not an RG7321. F=Fujigen = Japan. It's a japanese fixed/trem bridge 7.

Going to the ever so helpful Ibanez catalog for 2000, the three models that fit under the description that you gave, the RG7620, the RG7420, and the RG7421, were all made in Japan.

Hope that helps.

Neither the RG7621 nor the RG7321 were made in 2000.

If I'm simply misunderstanding this, feel free to correct me, but the 7421/7420 are also Japanese made, however, they have square routes for the pickup tabs.

Neither the RG7621 nor the RG7321 were made in 2000.
The 7621 was, it was made from 1998-2002. And I never said he had a 7321 anyway, I was saying he didn't because they were never MIJ and he has an MIJ guitar (or neck at least)

Yeah, you're right. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Fixed it.

The 7621 wasn't made in 2000, so it's definitely an RG7421.

The 7621 was made in 2000. It isn't listed in the catalog, but it was still made, and it was the first year with the bubinga stripe in the neck.

EDIT: Square routes means its a 7421. I'm not sure about the prices though.

I believe the 7421s were the only ones with a bubinga stripe, but also can be found with the one piece maple 7621 neck. Never seen a 7621 with a bubinga striped neck, though.

I just called him and he said it has square routes. 299 a good price for this? I'm thinking of just talking him down to 200 or 150?

299 is good, lower is better. if its in good shape even if you cant get him down 299 is good for a 7421.

For the record.

There is no such thing as a 742x/762x neck. both models used the SAME neck. The stripe/no stripe thing has to do with the year it was produced. From 199-2000 they used the one piece neck, and some time in 2000 they started using the skunk stripe necks.
