Need opinions on project Interepid

So I bought this intrepid off eBay for $400 as a project guitar and im not sure what I wanna do with it. Its like new but without electronics.
I can cop out and just do the "EMG cover mod" over a passive pickup and leave everything be, or I was thinking I could get crazy and strip the guitar fill the pickup cavity to passive size and add a veneer over the top following the contours (possible leaving it natural as well). Or mabey just ebonize the ENTIRE body and put a clear coat over it.

Im almost positive I will add a coil tap and possibly even locking tuners. Any opinions?

Oooh, I LOVE it! I wanted to do something like that with mine but pretty much everyone said it's better to just sell it and order a custom. Here's what I would do:
1) sand down that gimongous heel on the the back.
2) reshape the body into something different ( I actually traced out a TIL8 on mine with the intent of that).
3) sand down the top enough to veneer or add a cap of some cool wood.
4) route for a neck pup
5) stain the top
6) Post a NGD on SSO, get nominated for and win GOTM, bask in the glory.
7) Get bored with it, post FS, accept my reasonable offer.

Just MHO.
