Alright so i asked for some help before and got awesome responses. With my price range and situation, my two main options right now are:

LTD EC 1000 (Flat black)
or
Carvin DC127 with a Koa body and ebony FB, with an Allan Holdsworth humbucker in the neck position and a M22SD Super Sustain in the bridge

I just traded my ec1000 vbk away, but it was pretty cool for the price IMO. I just didn't jive with the 24,75" scale and the emg's. That thing was really solid though, although the gold hardware tarnished easily.

My carvin (727) however, is miles ahead of it in construction. The fretwork is impeccable and the neck, although slightly rounder is a lot more comfortable, (even taking into account that I prefer seven-string necks.

Never played the dc127 personally, but I think I'd go for it.
Just my :2c:

I need evidence of this Carvin's existence, it sounds pornographic

Anywhere but here.
The carvin will be a much better guitar. You might want to swap the pickups eventually but that is minor. With a DC127 and the rings it shouldn't be an issue either. I would advise against the M22SD though, that pickup is an absolute ice pick.

One thing I noticed about the 1000 is that it is very heavy compared to all the other guitars I've tried out. It's like twice as heavy as my American strat.

My ec1000 was about a third of the weight of a Gibson Les Paul, must be the Secret Korean Mystery Wood, I guess (aka some form of Mahogany).
