The MESA and the 6505+ are very different machines. I love them both.

Now I just need a different cab for the Peavey...

congrats!! :)

awesome setup! and for the cabs: believe it or not, i found the Dual Recti sounding better with an old Marshall 1960 than with the matching Mesa cab - while the Mesa cab seems to fit the 6505 pretty well - just something you might consider! :)

Nice rig. Isn't the mesa cab stereo? i'd run 'em both through one for now.

Oh yeah! That's the good stuff.

Mesa Recto's are my all-time favourite amps.

Congrats man!

Thanks everyone.

I plan to try EL34's. And yes I will run the two in stereo and A/B them.

I just found the other speaker cable last night. The Peavey needs a retube though...bad. JJ's should do the trick.

Put the mesa 6L6's in the Peavey and put JJ EL34's (or KT77's ;)) in the dual rec.

Killer rig!!! I think you should get a Vader 2x12 - they sound wicked through the Mesa Dual Rectifiers - and lots of heavy bands do the 5150/Vader combo and get wicked tones.. They are still pretty reasonable with all the shipping to Aus as well (< $1000). I think my Vader 2x12 sounds better than my Mesa OS cab with my dual rectifier.

And having a 2x12 is great for portability/saving your back when you don't need to take a 4x12..

Congrats on your rig!! Can you post a quick comparison? Tightness, tonefull-ness, what you like/dislike about each amp? I'm hoping our other guitarist will get a 5150/6505 when he sells his current gear.

congrats ! nice rig you've got going on there.
Kt-77's are like the best of El-34's and 6L6's in one tube. you get the added
EL-34 upper mids but more bottom end . I use them anywhere I would normally use an EL-34.
this my old Rectoverb with Kt-77's in it. (for an idea of what you get with them in a Recto).
