Howdy guys. I haven't been around much but I thought I'd share my new project. Its an 88 RX-7 Convertible. Pretty rare especially around these parts. I'm gonna restore her back to full health and do a couple small mods.

Interior is going to be changed to tan leather.
Rebuild the power top in Black cloth
Ported intake and an Eaton Supercharger.

That should liven it up a bit and make for a fun little cruiser.
Enjoy the pics!

Nice car. You should check out a guy called mx3sleeper on youtube, he's making a series right now on rebuilding and porting a rotary engine from about the same year rx7 as yours. His is a twin turbo he built though, it's the fastest one of it's kind in north america at a 10 or 11 second quarter mile.

I know it's your car and all, but I personally wouldn't bother with putting a Pontiac engine in that (unless I misread and you're just putting in the supercharger?). It'll just make it heavier and worse on fuel, surely? I know rotary engines get comparatively bad fuel economy, but it'd probably still be better than a big 3.8 engine. I'm sure that the stock engine has the potential to be way quicker than a 3.8 as well.

IIRC, despite the large capacity of the engine, those Pontiac engines come with a pretty low power output... European cars could squeeze well over 350 horsepower from a 3.8, even in a stock road car. Those big American engines would probably be closer to 200-250 hp, am I right? I know that's not a small figure in the grand scheme of things, but considering the size of the engine it's seriously underpowered. You can squeeze a lot more out of an RX-7 engine.

I'd stick with the rotary and upgrade it until it absolutely flies.

That's probably my favorite thing about the RX8's, rev to 9 grand, then consider shifting.......Maybe.......

I want one of the 90s body style RX-7s pretty bad. That or an MR2. Not sure why I want the second one so badly, but I do.
