I had a RG1527 before I got my Hellraiser C-7, which should have the same neck as the Loomis, and it didn't take me long to get used to it.
Yes, it is thicker, but at the same time it's very comfortable with great access to the higher frets. The neck heel is similar to a neck-thru, so it is not in the way. Like I said, it is thicker than the Wizard neck, but it is very well shaped, so it isn't a problem. It plays like butter. I play a lot of technical neo-classical stuff, so I need a good, fast neck, and I have had no problems with it.
But, like always, you need to try one out for yourself.

yeah, see i need a 7 for Eb as the 1527 is in E, so the loomis might be perfect (seeing as im using it to play mainly nevermore! haha!)
