So I traded my MIM strat for an MIJ standard. Of course although they call it 'standard' it seems to be based partly on something like the '57 model as it has more radius than the Mexi and also a one piece maple neck and single ply pickguard. Anway, here it is:

Mmm, one piece neck:

I'm going to get a black pickguard for it, to make it look like this:

And while I'm at it, here's an LP copy I've been borrowing:

Nice Strat! I think it would look hotter with a tortoise pickguard than a black one.

Please don't change the pickguard, that's pure sex as it is. :yesway:

Now, throw some 11's on there, drop the gain a little, and start reallly slamming on the thing. :D

Let me know how that bridge works out for you. I almost picked one up very similar to it, but that bridge turned me off.

Also, it's impossible for you to post pics of your RG in any thread without said thread immediately becoming focused on that guitar and it's glorious paintjob.

There were bigger issues with that particular guitar though - namely that it just didn't play particularly well.

Oooohhh! Purdy! I'd keep that pickguard, but whatever floats your boat.

Or throw some 8's on there and unleash the fookin' fury!

Nice Strat! I love my Strat too. I have one just like that except it is made in Mexico, still a nice guitar though. Nice score and nice collection too!

Thanks guys,

I do like the white/white/maple look on strats too but I'm really diggin the black pickguard idea at the moment... If it sucks I can always just swap it back anyway. Pics will of course be posted when I change it.

Chris - are you worried about stability etc or just all the sharp bits placed where your picking hand would go ? So far I haven't had problems with either, though I haven't exactly been divebombing it or anything...

playstopause - it's a custom I had built, details are in this thread:

And here's another pic, with the original crap knobs.
