Been looking for one of these for quite a while and now I can finally turn off the Google alert! I decided to get stoned and surf Reverb after seeing Dead to Fall the other night and saw this beauty within the first hour of it being posted and didn't even bother shooting an offer. Its in excellent shape aside from a few dings on the back and still 100% original. The color is so much cooler in person. I also recently picked up a set of NOS late 80s Ibanez knobs in DSY with no home in mind that seem to have found one.

Also pictured are my other new acquisitions; a Mesa Rectifier Recording Preamp and a VHT 2/50/2 joining the VHT GP3 I already had in the rack.

I am totally out of the Ibanez game for 16 years but I remember a 7-String variant early 2000‘s that looked pretty much identical was also named RG XL something (if I remember correctly something on it was glow in the dark… the offset inlays or the binding or so) always wanted one but never managed to snack on.

Love your rack gear

You're talking about the RG1077 and later (different trem and finish) RG2077...

Very nice! Always loved the RG XLs, I'd love to track one down some day. What strings do you have on it?

What's on it now are the 13-72 Ernie Ball in A standard. Getting it setup with a custom set of String joy 72 46 34 26 17 14 in Drop A.

Nice! I bought a 970XL more than a decade ago and it was my main gigging axe for awhile. I don't post here much anymore but I also have a Google Alert for 970XL (might be cool to have a spare) which alerted me to this post. Anyway, glad you were finally able to track one down!

That's an awesome guitar, but I have to ask about how the Valvulator compares to Recto Pre. I can't remember the Valvulator really but use to own a Recto Pre. I also use the Two/Fifty/Two. Really'd be nice if Fryette released the GP3 or another mega preamp like that though.

Ill have to get back to you. I have been so busy that I honestly have not fired it up since the Recto arrived.
