Ok, this I my first post here, and I've got something tasty to show ya!

Yeah, so after a year and a half I finally got my custom 8 string from Basta guitars! It's build to my exact specs en plays like a dream.
Basta guitars is a small custom guitar builder in Holland near Arnhem.
Almost everything went wrong with this build.
The first neck twisted while it dried, the fretboard was rosewood while I choose ebony, the paintjob was a disaster since there were metal particles in the airbrush system, so that had to be done all over. And to top it all of the builder had an hernia in the middle of the build.
All of this aside, I gave him time and told him not to rush anything. That resulted in a beautiful guitar that sounds and plays awesome.

Will upload some sound clips and new pics soon.
These pics do not do it justice, the wood's a lot deeper color.

Specs:

Body: Swamp ash
5 piece Neck: Maple, wenge
Fretboard: Macassar ebony
Top on body and headstock:Birdseye maple
Hardware: All Hipshot
Output jack: Neutrik locking
Pickups: Bridge aftermath, neck VHII Bareknuckle
Switch is 3 way gibson style with mini switch for coil tap.
Neck is oiled, body painted.
Fretboard is tottaly flat, like a classical guitar, it's different but i like it!

Gr,

Dave

That neck is so awesome looking. I love how those two giant wenge pieces are separated by a hairline of what I think is maple. I don't think I've seen a neck constructed like that before. Cool stuff! That's a serious neck joint though, hows that working out? Boy do I love the way that neck looks though, cool headstock too:yesway:

Thanks, jeah the neck is maple, wenge, thin strip of maple, wenge and maple
2 trussrods and also some graphite reinforcement.
I know, when i first saw these pictures of the guitar and especially the neckjount, it looked massive. But in real life it isn't bigger than my ibanez 7 string (neck width ofcourse is)
the weight is also very manageable, not light but lighter than my gibson les paul :)

I usually don't like how Wenge looks in most applications but that neck is REALLY awesome. I like the swamp ash as well. The top isn't really my thing but it does look nice.

I personally hate rosewood - except on guitars with that coloring. I think you lucked out there. A true black ebony would not have been as nice.

30 inch is really different than 25,5 but I do really like it. The tension especially is what I like, everytime I pick up a 25,5 or 27 inch scale it feel like there's not enough tension. That probably because I play 5 string bass to. The transition from bass to 30 inch scale guitar is a lot more natural than going from 25,5 to 30 if that makes any sense

I do not hate rosewood, but I like ebony better for it's attack. The guitar has lot's of attack but also sounds really round and warm.

It does look alot like the Schecter 006/007 but the body on my guitar, the butt of the guitar is skewed forward.

Will make some better pics this weekend!
