Hey everyone, I'm sorta new around here. I've been lurking, but this is my first post.

After some time deciding exactly what i wanted and shopping around, I finally got my first 7 string. Its an Ibanez rg7421 with the chips in the paint that the majority of these have. I LOVE the neck, but boy were you guys right about stock pickups. so much mud!

I plan on making this my project guitar. First step: new pickups. I'll probably be real original and go with the crunch lab / liquifier combo. I also want to get some new saddles. The little screws that adjust the action are all rusted and the saddles are not in great shape. Also, the low B saddle has been replaced with what looks like a pretty cheap one. Down the road I might get around to doing a refinishing job on it, but we'll see.

Would you guys recommend replacing the whole bridge, or should I just get some string savers and call it a day? Are there any bridges out there that are drop in replacements for the rg7421?

Enough babbling, here's the pictures. (I am no photographer and this is a camera phone so bear with me)

One of the saddles has been replaced with a super cheap looking one. Also, the bridge could use a thorough cleaning, and maybe even replacing.

Family Portrait time!! In order: Ibby Rg7421, Music Man Axis Super Sport (so much win), mexican J-bass. Behind them is a Mesa Boogie Mark III with an avatar contemporary 2x12 with V-30's.

A hipshot would be awesome. Do you know if I could get one that would fit without drilling new holes? I think the normal ones don't have the same string spacing if I'm not mistaken. I see that there was a group buy some time ago for custom ones that would fit. I will probably contact them and ask, but do you guys know off the top of your head?

Perhaps I do a new old guitar day for the Music Man in a few days. Its probably my favorite guitar I've ever laid my hands on.

Nearly shit myself when I saw the Axis. Goddamn I am jealous. Definitely with the thread-devoted-to-it option. Also 'grats on the 7421, I have a 7621 so I know the joy. :) Ended up switching out the bridge pu for an X2N-7, which I'm liking a lot. :yesway:

this

these guitars are pretty fucking awesome stock, but with some upgraded pickups and a new bridge, they become one incredible guitar

there really isn't many ibanez RG7 fixed bridges that compare to these, from what i know, there was the RG7621 and the RG15271; so these things are pretty awesome for the money
