A couple of years ago we went through all the music shops in Dublin, specifically looking for an SG for my friend. Our last stop was Xmusic, where I came accross an amazing Collings D1. When I started playing on it, it immediately felt like I was listening to a professional recording. It had such a nicely balanced sound, but I just couldn't justify paying that amount of money on a guitar back then. It disappeared from the webpage shortly afterwards, so I totally gave up on seeing that guitar ever again. Then probably 3 or 4 months ago, it popped up, while I was browsing on the Some Neck Guitars website. I compared the pictures to the ones I took at Xmusic back then and it was unmistakenably the very same guitar. Some weeks later we went up to Dublin again to see it in flesh and it felt just the same way as I remembered and I left the shop with paying the deposit for it. My plan was to sell my Regius Core 7 and my Dingwall bass to fund the balance, which happened eventually, so now I'm the lucky owner of my dream acoustic guitar. I'll probably change the Elixirs to D'Addarios, and it desperately needs some fret polish, since it was used and abused in the shops throughout the years (it's from 2015), but other than that, I'm super happy. 20200408_134232.jpg

Congrats. I’ve always wanted to try one.

I have a Collings Doublecut 290S Doghair which is spectacular. Now you have me wanting one of their acoustics!

I’m not paying enough attention to some necks website because I would have loved to have taken a look at that thing

Congrats...you find a Collings in Ireland and I found a Lowden wl35 in Colorado. Go figure. Seriously, a fine acoustic will change your life.

Here in America, upper end acoustic for most folks, it's all Taylor 7,8,9 series...and they get into the $3500 range. But a Collings, Olson, Goodall...and many more absolutely destroy anything Taylor can make. A friend has a master built koa Taylor that is in the 10k range. He has cried more than once when playing one of the aforementioned guitars. And resale is tough on Taylor.
