Alright - I got this ML from a GC in Sacramento. They say it belonged to Eric Peterson of Testament. Eric told the dude at GC that it is a "one off Japanese Made" Dean. The only MIJ Dean I was previously aware of was the short lived Soltero SL but after some research, it seems they made some guitars in Japan from roughly '77-'85. There are no markings on this guitar - no serial number, etc. The only thing on it that could help me figure out what exactly this is, is some lettering in the neck pickup cavity. Thanks to Grand Moff Tim - it apparently says "Trans Black" which matches up with the finish. During the process of buying this from GC, Eric came back into the store and they got it signed for me - which was pretty cool of them and him to do. Overall, the guitar is top notch - the fit, finish, etc is all great. I am assuming it has standard Dean specs - Mahogany body and neck and a maple top. The "one off" specs are an Ebony board, Abalone inlays, OFR and EMGs. It appears to have a 3 piece neck as well. I have also emailed Dean CS to try and get some more info if at all possible. Below, there is a pic of what looks like the remnants of a hang tag that would have identified the guitar. If anyone knows anything - I would appreciate the info. Thanks and onto the PRON!

Cool guitar. I like these much more than the dime models.
Have the neck thickness/contour specs by any chance? Or, how does it's neck shape compare to other MLs?

I had one of those Dime Shadow ML's. It was a good guitar, albeit with a cheap licensed Floyd Rose bridge.

I miss it. This thread gave me some nostalgic ML GAS.

cool man HNGD. I know this shape isnt the most popular around here but its comfy IMO.
It's a V and Explorer in one. You play it informally or in the classical position. It's got good fret access as well.

I'll be honest, I am not a Dean fan typically and the ML is definitely NOT one of my favorites, but this guitar is clean and sexy as hell. I would totally rock that.

Great score bro! HNGD!

Edit: Does the headstock match?

That's pretty fucking sweet. Glad I could be of some assistance, too.
