So I've been wanting to get into the realm of 8 strings so I bought this on a whim and boy am I glad I did! It came set up pretty good from sweet water but the strings were just to thin for my liking so I changed them for something thicker 5 minutes after plugging it in. So after a new thicker set of strings and a set up this thing plays better than my 7's. to me it just feels so much more natural! I didn't care for the EMG's at first but after adjusting the height and some amp settings I'm really digging them. I have it tuned low to high ebeadgbe. Finish is perfect. This is one of the sweetest necks I have ever played, it feels like butter! Fret work is very nice! I'm really loving the bridge too! So over all I love it and I am so glad I decided to make the jump from 7's to 8's

Now to what you guys really care about! Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics I don't own an actual camera...

Thanks. I was worried I would have to do a lot of tweaking to get a good sound but I didn't. When the amp is turned down it doesn't sound that great kind of muddy with no balls. But when I turn it up to 1 1/2+ it sounds amazing! Which is good because I will have to switch between my 7string with warpigs to this with EMG's when we play live. As of now I feel like this thing is too good to be true! I was really skeptical of switching because I have played the RGA8 a few times and hated it every time because my hand would cramp instantly and the pickups were horrible. And the few Schecters I've played were also uncomfortable. But this.... I have about 5 hours of playing time on it now and I have had absolutely no cramping, no fatigue, nothing I just want to keep playing. I even get cramps from playing my KXK for extended periods of time. The only complaint I have is that I feel that the volume knob is too close to the bridge/pickups I am constantly turning it down by accident. Maybe it's just because I'm used to the sc607b and KXK controls, so maybe I will be able to adapt. So other than that this thing is perfect and I couldn't be happier! Oh btw this is my first Ibanez prestige, and before this I owned a 7321 and boy what a difference. So now I see where all the hype is coming from for these instruments.

That's quite a "whim" purchase! I buy things like a drink from Starbucks or a cable.

Congrats on a fantastic guitar! The bad news is, eventually, you will have to do a lot of tweaking. It starts with string gauges and Circle K...just a heads up...:coffee:

Man, that is one sexy guitar. I have a strong proclivity for maple fretboards, so this really makes my GAS tingle. :D Great buy!

Thanks guys! I want to know if anyone knows if any of the gotoh locking tuners are a direct swap, no drilling for string gauge or screw holes.

Yeah I'm planning on it. What is the difference between the 808 and the 808x?

Clarity.

After two years of trying to describe the differences to people I've decided "clarity" is the only description that might possibly have meaning to someone who has not heard them before. They are definitely worth it! :yesway:
