Ibanez Herman Li Signature (Dragonforce Guitarist). This is basically an Ibanez Prestige Sabre (S Series) model with a few adjustments made. 2008 model so first year of production and it was known then as the EGEN1 model before switching to the EGEN18 name for the remaining years of production up to 2019. Mahogany body (with extra sculpting/recess on rear lower horn), Flame Maple Top, Neck is an EGEN Prestige but basically a Wizard Prestige....super slim. Herman's own HLM pickups designed by Steve Blucher and made by Di Marzio. Ibanez Edge Zero Trem with ZPS Stabiliser. Finish is Transparent Violet Flat.

So with this being a signature model Herman obviously wanted to put a few things on it and whilst I've never heard him openly admit there's a couple of little ideas nicked from the Jem Models. Frets 21-24 are scalloped. The Grip thing came next:

Ibanez Jem Monkey Grip:

Monkey Grip????

So he obvs couldn't do a Monkey Grip so came up with the Kung Fu Grip idea:

... over there...
Nice. We don't see those floating around often.

I think I remember reading or watching a video where Herman clearly says he got inspiration on the Jems for some details on his model, namely the upper horn grip. I don't know why he got out of Ibanez, but his comments were kind of lame about it...

The EGEN never totally clicked with me due to the grip but dear lord that’s a glorious, looks stunning in the sun. Congrats! How do you like the pickups?

Love that purple, and the S shape seems to be very comfortable. I never actually played one, but I dig it.

I hate the Edge Zero, though.

@aesthyrian @Shawn Cheers guys!!

@Rachmaninoff Thanks! The S Series are very comfortable to play and the body is even thinner than they look in pics. My Ibanez collection is probably 10:1 ratio of RG to S Series...I really love the Sabres and will grab some more. On the Edge Zero....yeah...I used to hate them being so used to the Original Edge and Lo Pro. I usually take the Zero Point System out of them...more responsive and you can get a decent amount of flutter.
