Hey guys. Heres my new jackson slatxmg3-7. I tried every 7 at long&mcquade and ended up bonding with this one.

My first impressions were:
-It has incredibly smooth frets
-it only has 9-52's and it has enough tension in B
-The longer scale doesn't affect my playing
-It has a nice ring to it
-Oh shit, it comes with dunlop strap locks! :yesway:
*if there was something i didn't like about it, i wouldn't have bought it*

Now for the pretty bad pics...

The only thing that scares me about these is that I have heard there are practically NO neck shoulders. Happy NGD, though!

i'm so glad the neck joint is
as sculpted as the broderick
model.

i actually like it a lot more
than i thought. probably would
have bought one of these over
my 7620, had it been available
back in '99. nice score man :metal:.

Jackson really knocked the ball out of the park with these. All the NGDs so far have looked great, especially yours! Enjoy her!

Happy NGD :metal:

I'd be sold on these if they had passive routes. How is the fretwork?

the frets are smooth and the ends are very taken care of. i have never had action this low with no buzz.
I agree, they should have used passive routs with no pickup rings.

Hi everyone,
I have one question: why are these guitars so cheap?
I was almost ready to buy an Ibanez RGD2127z, but then I see this one (yes, I am not very updated on 7s): better headstock than the old SLAT7, mahogany body, 26.5" scale... it seems as Jackson peeked into my dreams.
I still prefer the body, the toggle switch position and the neck radius of the Ibanez... BUT it is 50% more expensive, why is that? it's not even neckthru.
Is the Floyd Rose on the Jackson an Original one, BTW?
Where the Jackson is made?
Thanks!

The jackson is made in indonesia which is why its on the cheap side. Neck construction usually doesn't affect the price.
It's not an original floyd, it's some frt 2000 or something. It's also seen on agiles.

The ibanez is worth $1500 with it's japanese quality, hard case, etc.
The old jackson slats were in that range too because they were made in japan with Original Floyd's and hard cases as well.

It costs that much more because 1. It's Japanese and 2. it has the Edge Zero 7. Which is a better trem than you will find on most guitars in it's price range and lower. And a lot of other reasons.

But having a neck-thru doesn't make a guitar better.

Edit: congrats to the OP on a killer guitar.
