@Ben Pinkus I mean, this was around ¥140,000? I don't think there's any current Prestiges you can get for that. Same price range I paid for my old JC like, 6-7 years ago. I think I used up all my ouitar buying luck for a while..
Yeah think mine was 1.2k on ebay, there were new premiums in the UK at the time more than that (this was mid covid)

@tecs99 Maybe ask a local tech if you can see some of their work beforehand? It's not rocket science but not everyone cares enough to spend the time for really nice work.

Do you have a less precious guitar? You can try out a repair guy on that first.

Absolutely. The frets on this when it arrived were perfectly serviceable, I just like modding my stuff and getting more experience as I do it, particularly with fretwork. I've done enough fretjobs now to be pretty confident but I'm certainly not going to practice/try new techniques on client's guitars.

... over there...
Will stainless steel frets make me play better?
No, but if done properly...
... bends will always be smooth.
... the guitar will always feel like NEW in the frets.
... local fret buzz due to uneven frets will almost be a thing from the past.

... and you already know that...

holy crap!!! that's gorgeous
my favorite finish Ibanez ever did, hang on to this one.
I sold my old 8527 J-Custom back in 2011 and regret it all the time
Gawd that’s a pretty guitar! I would also regret. They are not easy to find used.
