So this one has been a long one for me. I ordered it back in April after my shop became dealers for Ibanez for two reasons; A, because of the sweet price I could get it at as an employee and B, as incentive to quit smoking cigarettes by sinking the money I would have spent on packs into an awesome new guitar for myself. Also I'm a sucker for anything that looks like a coffee table with strings on it, and the specs were just the type of thing i was looking for. Sold my 7420 as a deposit and we got on our way

Not a day after ordering it, our account contact tells me its going to be a two month backorder. Not too shabby, I'm not one to need something immediately so I strapped in for the long haul. end of June came up and I was getting antsy. I asked him to contact Ibanez again on an ETA. This time, it was two more months backordered. Dissappointed, but what am I to do but wait at this point.

So finally on Tuesday morning while I'm canoeing with my girlfriend on my day off, our shipping guy texts me this

I end said canoe trip as soon as I can possibly manage to and bolt down to the store to grab it.

So I'll shut up and here's pictures

The guitar is the real deal. The neck is unlike any sort of 7 neck I've ever played on. It's smooth and such an easy ride, doesn't feel cheap whatsoever. The Dimarzio PAF 7's are exactly the kind of tone change I needed from the high output. The Limba top is very thin, but it blends with the basswood very well and really makes the guitar a looker. For taking a jump on a guitar I had never played before, I am very happy with the outcome!

thats pretty dam sweet man, whats the scale on those bad boys?

25.5". I don't mind it. Its perfect for me because I tune in C standard while keeping the high E (C F A# D# G C E) so the longer scale length feels tighter compared to my 6 strings. I also use 11's for C standard so the extra tension is a plus. Win in all aspects!!

The multi too that they give with the Prestige case is insane as well. You can't even get Martin to send you a truss rod tool for their acoustics if you ask them and Ibanez gives you this. Bigups to them for killing it

That was one of the coolest thing I received in a case too. I already had all those tools, but to have them all in on single swiss knife like tool that you always have with you is super cool in my opinion. :shred:

Exactly, no I have a tool for all of my instruments. My favorite was the filed down allen key for those tight fits on certain Fender truss rods. All around awesome first new guitar buying experience. Thanks guys!

I know exactly how you feel bro, even though this guitar is the least expensive of all the guitars in my collection, for some strange reason, it is BY FAR my favorite.

I find myself going back to this axe exclusively! Something about the look, feel, and simplicity of this thing!

Enjoy the new guitar; congrats!

Amazing that Ibanez can produce this kind of quality at such a reasonable price point!

MY two favs:

Very true. This thing looks and feels like a real high quality piece. No wonder there was such a long wait for it, these must have flown out of Ibanez's warehouse so fast.

I was lucky when I placed my order back in early April, I got the "last one" available from Ibanez - would have been a wait until "around August" which is probably what you got stuck with!

(I just re-read your OP and see you placed your order in April as well, must have just missed owning the one I got! LOL)

I always wondered if that whole "there's only 1 left" thing was just a sales trick to get you to buy... in this case, I guess not!

All is well though now that we both have 'em! :shred:
