Second Skervesen Raptor 8 topic in short amount of time!

While being very impressed with my Raptor 7, I've got GAS for 8 string. Contacted with the team and got this mine Raptor 8.

Quick Specs:
Mahogany body, walnut top, maple neck/fretboard with 27" loaded with SD Nazgul/Sentient, 4AP Headstock.

In overall, very positively surprised with the guitar, it's light (lighter than my 7 string), the neck feels very comfortable. The Nazgul/Sentient pickups works very well with this 8 string - personally wanted to test them out and eventually switch to BKP (yep, little bit fanboism), but I'll stick with them since they seem to be very balanced.

Cutting the boring stuff, here's some pictures!

HNGD! I'm glad that you like your Raptor 8. :) We use good quality Khaya mahogany for the bodies. It's one of my favorites because it's fairly light and easy to process. The sound is a pure question of taste but usually I enjoy it.

Yeah, that's my first though which came to me, when I've picked up the guitar. Tbh, when I've picked up the box from the courier, I was concerned if it's empty :p But nope, that's the Raptor.
Forging tones on this guitar is pure joy and straight forward!

Oh Damn, again a nice one!
It is fancy 8 string NGD month :)
Personally i think 27" is a little short on the bass side for the low string, but thats a personal thing!

Enjoy it!

Could you help me understand this? I know Tosin plays a drop E on a 27.5" and with a .072 or .074.

It is pure a personal thing. I prefer a longer range, 28" at minimum.
If the scale is a little longer you can get some more tension without increasing the string gauge.
I like more tension because for me it plays nicer, I have less problems with pushing the strings out of tune etc.
Also I think it sounds a little better, more snappy with higher tension.

Also the most things that I play are riff based, I don't do a lot of big wide chords etc. If you do play big chords or play stuff that requires wide stretches it makes a lot sense to go for a shorter scale length.

So I think it depends upon your playing style, what you want from the instrument, your own preference. There are plenty of people that play on 27" and even 26.5" 8 strings without any problems, super cool. But considering what I play and how I play I prefer my 29.5" to 27.5" multi scale 8.

Hope this make sense / helps!
