NGD: Something Yellow This Way Comes

It's finally here!

Ibanez RG550mxxdy! 20th Anniversary RG550 in Desert Yellow

You guys know the specs better then I do:

- Basswood Body
- Titanium reinforced Wizard I (II?) neck
- maple fretboard
- 24 frets
- Original Edge trem
- DR Neon strings!

First impressions: I took it out of the case, and it was 98% in tune! It's fairly resonant, and the set-up is pretty good as well. It came with straplocks but the strap was lost prior to sale. It's pretty resonant unplugged, seems to be a good cut of wood. The neck is easily the thinnest I've ever owned, but hiked up to Shred territory it's comfortable. I will be turning to Troy to learn some sweet bar tricks, and Darren's got the hook-up for the Tremol-no.

I have my J S Moore A8 pickup out of my PRS floating around, and I have a hunch this guitar will get the matching neck and single coil. I really enjoy the variations in sounds between each setting - very handy!

I have a brand new, virgin one sitting in the corner and it kills me to not play it... aaah... anyway, the ones I've played are fucking king. The square heel, original Edge, and titanium truss rod make these things rock solid. They play and sound so good... I wish I never got rid of the black one I had.

Word of advice: try an Evo in the bridge, and tune to D standard if you get a chance.

Plays pretty well, my tech can probably make it play a little better. Im not sure what gauge strings are on it.
