Hairy Old Bloke
OK, this beastie has been on my list for a while...
I headed off to Feline Guitars in Croydon to pick this beast up last night.
Here we are, a shiney new Blackmachine B7:
These photos by Jonathan at Feline.
I collected the guitar from Doug after this photo session. A fun night was had, all told, Doug was as obsessed and entertaining as normal (he's skint after spending thousands on rare timber) and Jonathan is a very nice and highly knowledgable chap too. Builds shit hot guitars too.
I've had bad lighting conditions today, but here are some crappy photos of my own:
And the specs:
Body - quilt Sapele, cut from the same billet as the top on my B2, identical figure 5 tone chambers.
Top - Camphorwood burl
Body + top = 32mm thick
Neck - solid Madagascan rosewood
Fretboard - Cocobolo (Danish oiled)
Nut - Graphtech
No truss rod cover
24 6100 frets, compound radius
Neck and body Ivoroid bound
Gotoh 7 string bridge (discontinued, apparently)
Electronics - Volume, picup selection, tone, coil split miniswitch
Pickups - Bareknuckle AlNiCo Warpigs
Neck is a flat D profile, modelled on 80s Jackson carve. Plays ridiculously quickly, and I can't wait to plug it in to my live rig on Tuesday. Through my practise kit this is the thickest guitar that I've ever played. Good shit. This was a deliberate choice to fill out the precision of my Diezel.
I can't wait to see the upcoming guitars that Doug's got planned too. More GAS...
