I think I just found AI generated porn trying to pass itself off as a real person and it's the most Uncanny Valley shit I've ever seen. So many philosophical questions...

They turned up literally as I was putting the twins for a nap. So stayed around to play with my older kid, until the twins woke up and could play with them.
I wouldn't have done so bloody much washing.
They ummed and ahhed about staying for dinner, so I couldn't start cooking anything.

Ended up not being able to finish anything and had toasted sandwiches for dinner.

I think the porn industry is not a healthy place to work, so I fully approve of any AI that makes an end to "real" porn.

I get that ad blockers are a thing, but between sometimes using a work machine with strict control over what can be installed, or not wanting to work out how to ad-block a chromecast, or on mobile, or whatever else, it's a fairly small price to pay. A small price in the sense that there's so much advertising on anything online that I think I'm just numb to it at this point.

Yeah, there's not much you can do if you have no control over the devices you're using or the router / modem configuration (which is usually a pain in the ass).

Luckily I have full control over my work computer and my phone (I mean, I can do whatever Apple allows me to do...) so I don't know what an ad is except when I have to disable the blockers for some reason.

For those interested: Firefox gives you pretty decent ad-blocking out of the box (even the mobile version), and Brave is even better (no Youtube ads in case you use your mobile browser to watch videos).

I've come to think that this is only the way parents work on TV. For many folks, myself included, parents receive probably the most filtered version of my thoughts. I'm more unfiltered on this forum than I am with any family. But then I come from a family where you have to be careful talking about math, because they think it's condescending to talk generally about math around them. I wish I was kidding.

That's not really an improvement. It's a huge step in the wrong direction in terms of informed consent, let alone being aware that your likeness is being used that way. It doesn't really matter that it isn't real, it's still a violation.

It would be incredibly naive to think nobody would ever generate what looks like a real existing person. Otherwise, what's the point? Everyone on there is already a stranger. To be clear, people already do this, and it's already a problem.

Will it still be a problem once everyone knows you can fake these videos?
Might it even lead to people stop caring when they are sent supposed nudes of someone they know because they think it's just fake anyway?

Is this a real question? People are always going to care. We have laws now that protect people who own OTHER people's likenesses from being used without their consent. You think we wouldn't care about our own likenesses?

Well then I don't see how AI raises new questions in regards to this topic.

Or perhaps unless it's fake people doing things they're programmed to do which is the issue.

And then that brings up other questions. If fake people are used in illegal porn is the porn still illegal if there are no real victims? Is there some point in which lawmakers draw a line and what would that line be?

I think pedophilia is illegal even if it's fake (not even drawings), at least in some places. Not that they'll prosecute every case, but they can if they want to.

Besides cases like that, as long as it's fake people having sex I don't think anybody will care (or notice, eventually).

OTOH, there are plenty of porn deep fakes of famous people around the web. I think PornHub and other well known porn sites forbid the uploading of that kind of content, but there's always some place or country with different laws that will allow it and no one can do anything about that.
