The whole banning porn thing caught traction when pornhub got caught hosting underage porn, and in at least one case it was initially found by the school friends of an exploited minor. That's about as close to getting raped in front of your entire school as things can get without being literal.

So I'm fine with increasing regulations on the porn industry at this point. I'm not delusional enough to think it will end the sexual exploitation of children, but it has quantifiably harmed them on more than one recent occasion (there are many more examples). It's not art, don't give me that absolute horseshit, it can be thrown out and nothing will be lost except a few boners already well on their way to erectile dysfunction. Regardless of whether the idea nudity is valid art in some contexts has bearing, in this context it clearly serves no technical or spiritual purpose in the slightest. It's for nutting to and forgetting about.

Ugh, let's go back to discussing Cannibal Corpse's lyrics, the futility of existence, how everybody hates Polyphia and how Pantera's fans are all rednecks, or something more sevenstring-like.

Did brakes on my car this morning. Was going pretty well but I violated my number one rule of not cracking open a job that renders the vehicle inoperable if I don't have another car there in case I need a part.

Ran into an extra crusty and seized caliper with a torn boot.

Of course nobody free at 10am on a Wednesday so I had to find my own way to the auto parts store. Credit to my absolutely busted 30-year-old mountain bike with the handlebars 5° askew and frozen derailleur because it still got me there 5 miles away.

Do they have that kind of image in Argentina, too? What are rednecks called in Spanish?

No, actually I meant the perceived consensus about Pantera's fans here on sevenstring.org. I don't think we have an equivalent to rednecks in Argentina (the stereotype or the word itself), but I know what they are because they're often depicted in movies, series, games, etc.

In the late 80s / early 90s the most popular metal bands around here were kind of old-school metal: RIFF, V8, Hermética. Lyrics were all in Spanish, and except for RIFF they usually didn't sound particularly well live, their albums were mostly low-budget, and most of their members while sometimes adequate weren't what I'd call "very good" except for a few exceptions. But people here love their local bands who sing about things they understand and know like third world chaos, politics, violence, dictatorships, drugs, etc., and most metalheads liked those bands plus some of the classics like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, or Motörhead.

Almost everyone into metal were working class teenagers who lived in poor neighborhoods, had no jobs, and most likely didn't know any English. Add to that that imports were very rare and expensive, and if they manufactured a local copy of a foreign album here THEY TRANSLATED ALL THE SONGS NAMES AND SOMETIMES THE ALBUM'S TITLE TO SPANISH... I have an original copy of Arise by Sepultura somewhere with song titles like "Llanto desesperado" (Desperate Cry).

And that was the 80s mostly. In the 90s imports became pretty common and affordable, so you suddenly had an influx of new bands, cable TV was pretty common (even low income families had it) and we could watch MTV, Headbangers Ball and stuff like that. People still listened to the old-school bands (I know I did and still do), but we 90s teenagers also were exposed to bands like Pantera, Biohazard, Fear Factory, White Zombie, Prong and all the bands we know from that era that while still metal-sounding were pretty modern at the time. And who listened to those new bands? Some of the old-school guys did, but mostly middle-class teenagers who could afford the albums, buy the t-shirts, buy the magazines, sometimes even go to see the bands perform live, and often knew enough English to understand the lyrics.

So, answering the original question: here in Argentina it's usually quite the opposite. In fact "lower-class", "working class", "uneducated people" or whatever term or terms we could use to translate "redneck" very rarely listen to metal anymore.

that's way more metal sounding than Pantera
