I thought the demo was quite good; very raw, straight-forward, and transparent! I thought the tone was great too! D.I. recording using analog gear is a different animal than D.I recording with amp sim's and modelers. I'm sure Mesa helped the recording along with some high quality converters and what not but that is certainly no crime. :coffee:

The video is 100% Ola...we had no input whatsoever. Thanks!

If you purchased one and didn't like any of the stock cab sims, couldn't you use the line-out signal from the back of the cab clone into your interface and use an IR of your choice?

Sure you can, but if you're going to do that you might as well get a $40 Behringer GI100 or a used H&K redbox.

They don't act as loadboxes. Hell, even the Redbox says to use a load.

If you don't mind cranking the .... out of your amp these will work, but if you need complete silence, they're a no-go.

I thought the mesa thing was a pass thru. If it contains a load then the price makes more sense.

I had one of the original redboxes. I didn't know they had a new one with all those options, I'm going to check it out.

I'm using the Behringer GI100 and the one sound it makes really sounds right to my ears.

So, would a wimpy 1 watt power amplifier like the Engl's e530 drive the Cabclone enough to get any sort of sound? Or would it take near 100 watts for it to work properly?

At the price they are, if you need something quick and dirty, they will work great and get the job done. I like the fact that you can disable it and just use it as a load and use your IR of choice.
