Have you got a drill press if so its its dead easy. All's not lost if you ain't, you can use a hand elec drill.
What kind of saddles do you want, Fender or Wilkinson ? If you use Wilko all you need to make is a flat 3mm plate but you'll need a tap to cut the thread.

3mm steel plate. Just line up your Wilko saddles on top of the plate and mark where you need the holes for the screws and the strings. You can stagger the holes if you want to allow for intonation points.

A set of taps and dies are fairly cheap to buy at a tool warehouse.

You realy need cutting paste for tapping but I used oil. Slowly and carefully feed and turn the tap in the drilled hole and reverse the tap back every 1/4 turn ( you really don't want to snap that tap). Use a taper tap first and then a full tap.

Drill 2 or three holes for the holding screws and countersink . Done. Just get it chromed or powder coated.

I used Fender saddles on this so it needed the end bending in the vice.

Same procedure as the flat plate but drill the saddle adjustment screw holes in the end , obviously.

If you get it powder coated you'll need the saddles spacing out a little wider to allow for the thickness of the powder coating. All's not lost if they are a little tight, you can just lightly sand the coating on the sides.
