I've been playing 6string guitars for about 5 years now and im planning to buy my first 7stringer sometime this year....

I've seen and tried a few 7s (Schecter Damien 7FR and the ESP SC-207B)

I was keen on buying the schecter damien 7FR too but ive heard a lot about Ibanez 7s and im willing to try out a few before making the purchase....

any help in this matter will be appreciated.

try as much guitars as you can your hand dont lie...

if you like ibbby's check for an used one they are good and cheap, a lot of guy are gonna say schecter has thick neck's, agiles are cheap etc... there are some opinions that are the same over and over again..

just my opinion

It all depends on you. What do you want in your first 7?

well......i found the schecter damien to be quite comfortable....
i didnt have any problems with the neck(as ive heard quite a lot about that)
the only problem is that is a bit heavy...

and since im looking for a floating trem, i want to take a look at he ibbys too

btw...how do the ibanez EDGE trems compare to floyd rose trems???

Ibanez is slowly switching everything to the ZR bridges :yesway: .

But their stock pickups are kind of... :ugh:

Schecter makes really good guitars, considering the price that you pay for them.

I'm completely in love with my damien 7 FR, but a pickup change from the HZs to 707s is almost a must.

im considering the schecter strongly....but the only downside is that its damn heavy.....

and another thought that came to me was....i play bass too...so would it be better to buy a 7 or buy an 8string guitar????
would that be a better option???

My suggestion would be to go with a 7 most similar to the 6 you most prefer. For me that would have been a 90s MIJ Ibby 7 because they were most like my RG470 or a Jackson SLAT3-7 (which I don't believe existed when I was in the market for buying my first 7 :( ) because they remind me of the SL2H.

i checked the SLAT3-7....but here its too expensive......and the LTD H-1007FR will be arriving sometime in september...
so my current options are RG1527,RG7320,Schecter damien 7fr or the RGA8
