I've not really change my mix so far for my new album but I think the chords I used in this track accentuate the guitar tone more than in my other mixes which is probably why this is my favourite. Also I got a decent bit of clean guitar in and some slap bass!

Overall a really great mix, still can't believe you get such amazing guitar tones from VSTs :p
Not a big fan of the kick though, it's not terrible but I think it should sound a bit smoother, right now it sounds a bit too cardboardy imo.
If I were to mix this I would make the drums a bit more present as well, but that's just me :)
Really great song btw and great playing! :D

Kind of having a hard time deciding which song is my most well-mixed, so I'll leave you with two songs :)

i cant post my best since the band hasn't released the cd yet so i will post something i did a while ago and haven't touched since i dont like the drum sounds from when i recorded them i want to re record drums for this he put his old snare top head on the snare bottom and it made it sound uber compressed and dead o well enough ranting here ya go

Pretty happy :D

Edit: I notice a lot of people using REAPER - I Use it myself, I urge everyone to give it a try since it's so extremely lightweight yet very powerful!

I'm definitely reminded of Lamb of God, probably because of a similar guitar tone and vocal style. The mix is pretty clear, one thing I notice is that you might try thickening either the bass or guitars a bit for a fuller overall mix. But it sounds quite good as it is.

Nice! Very good ambient/organic/breathing mix!

And I'm guessing this is 8-string?

thanks a lot sir. yea its my Carvin DC800 tuned to an open E tuning that i fiddled with. im starting to be very pleased with my mixes as of late. my years of self teaching are hopefully paying off. hahaha
i can finally hear every instrument in its own spot. the only gripe i have with it is the guitar tone. but as i am only using free TSE plugins for that i suppose it isnt half bad.

Hah! Now there's some grind, fucking brutal man. I know the mix shouldn't be all that important, but I strongly feel that the drums need some work still. I'd say the snare needs some more pop/compression, perhaps a low-cut on 200~300hz so it won't wash up.

Imo grind needs poppy snares with brutal high sustaining clangs. What are you using for drums?

Very nice though

@pieceofdisaster

I think the input from your guitar was set way too high, because I can hear it clip a bit. I suggest you record on lower levels, and bring it up to the desired level with a compressor/limiter.
