there's really nothing core about PtH. there were a couple breakdowns on Kezia, but that's about it.

It's straight up prog metal to me.

And I agree with whoever said that it's an awesome album much in the same vein as Fortress, but overall, not as good.

Being "-core" doesn't just mean breakdowns. I think there's a lot of punk sensibility in Protest's music, and that they've definitely come from a more punk/hardcore background, although making music that is obviously very palatable to metalheads. To me, Protest the Hero, Revocation and similar bands are what the term "metalcore" SHOULD mean.

Wracking our brains for an idea that would solidify us as the coolest, manliest rockers in not only canada, but planet earth itself - we ended up choosing tandem bikes, go carts, skipping ropes, and you guessed it - roller skates.

Looks like Luke dropped Ibanez and started playing Parkers? Also - I'd be pretty bummed to ruin a Vigier and Parker from a roller skating accident hahah

At first I didn't like the album, but it has really grown on me. Kezia will always be my favorite though. YOUR FLESH MEANS MORE THAN YOU!!!!!!!!

I haven't been big into PTH prior to this album, and after hearing C'est La Vie, I had to get the album.

Needless to say, i'm fucking impressed, and this has prompted me to go out and listen to their older albums. I really enjoy Rody's vocals on this album, especially in Tapesty from 1:55 onward.

When the album came out I wasn't excited about what I heard at all, oddly enough it wasn't till I went out and bought the cd and really listened to it over so many dozen times that I really liked it.

I just take forever to adjust to change but its a fux awesome album that sits as well as kezia and fortress for me. Different flavors for different moods but all hold their own.

As he said in dunsel: "I make music for myself, not for hand jobs from the upper-tier or their undeserved wealth"

I dunno, I really preferred this album to most of their other ones. I thought it was just tight as hell, and I thought Rody had progressed a ton in his vocal ability. Sometimes the chaos on Kezia was a tad bit too much for me, so I kind of prefer how they went about it here. It felt like they were taking a different approach to doing pretty much the same thing, and it turned out well, imo.

You think there is more chaos in Kezia? I didn't really get that vibe. Anyway I just came in here to say this record has grown on me a bit. Overall, I still find it kinda disappointing, and I think Fortress is quite a bit better. I miss the soaring melodies on both guitars and vocals. There are definately some awesome moments on this cd, but the only 'song' i really love is Cest la Vie.
