The first RG 7620 had no bubinga neck stripe, but on the later models Ibanez started to build the necks with a bubinga reinforcement strip.

yes, mine has a stripe on it. only on the 99 and 2000 models. they came with the introduction of the wizard 7 neck

Does that mean all the ones before 2000 are not wizard profile?

not necessarily. All the 7620 necks I've played are pretty identical in feel.

My 2000 7620 has the bubinga strip on the back. It's a pretty slick looking idea on Ibanez's part IMO.

My 2000 7620 doesn't have the bubinga stripe, which is a shame as they do look really cool.

I prefer the look, too. I'm not sure if there was a profile change when they introduced the stripe or not, unfortunately - my only experience has been on one-peice 7620 necks.

Both my 7620s, one having an F 97 serial # and the other (a GN) having an F 99 serial #, don't have the bubing stripe. :( My 2000 S 7420 does however. :D I love the looks of the bubinga stripe, it looks awesome.
