I'm going to Australia for my honeymoon later this month. We'll be in Melbourne for 6 days and then Sydney for 6 days. My question is, I'd like to go see a Soccer game and a Rugby match but I'm having a hard time finding info on games or tickets. Are there games played in late march early April or are the seasons over? Where would be the best place to get tickets, can I buy tickets on game day? I live in Canada so I don't want the ticket to be shipped to my home.

Any one can help me a bit?

Cheers.

I'd just like to note that none of the cunts from Australia chimed in yet. I think it's like 1am Friday or something down there. I'm not good with time zones.

Sorry, we are currently too busy battling giant spiders/drop bears/sharks/snakes/box jellyfish/killer insects/each other to reply. Please leave a detailed message after the beep, and we'll get back to you.

Alright, on a more serious note, NRL games started again on March 2nd (Rugby League), I don't believe Union starts until later in the year though... Could be wrong there, so I hope someone else chimes in too

Tickets for the NRL and I believe Union games are done through Ticketek Australia But I can't answer your last question about getting them on the day, I think it depends on how big the game is and luckof the draw (that the stadium hasn't sold out).

I'll double check with the missus stepdad later if no-one else chimes in, he's a sports buff :lol;

When you're in Sydney, you must go and wander down King Street in Newtown... I swear I've been to 40 odd different cities in my life and have never seen as many Thai Restaurants :squint:

But seriously, go to Newtown, it's awesome... and stay away from Kings Cross...

brisbane is lovely imo.
If you are into bush and wildlife, tasmania is nice too, great treks you can do through cradle mountain etc.

Can't help you with the sports.

But I can provide you with a list of things to do while you're in Sydney.
Which I'm sure you'll love.

Visit Centre point tower and it's mighty fine restaurant
The Harbour bridge climb
Ride a Kangaroo
Visit Taronga Zoo
Make friends with Indigenous didgeridoo players in Circular Quay, Than fuse metal into their playing.
Adopt a Koala Bear
Go Crazy in Star City Casino
Do a ghost tour at the Quarantine Station
Take a ride on the monorail
Visit the Imax theatre
Don't get bitten or entangled by a mammoth Spider
Avoid Salt water at all costs
Visit Bondi Beach
Avoid anything with scales or fur. It will most likely kill you. Actually just avoid anything that's not human.

Haha no seriously. Enjoy your time over here. You'll love it.

Peace

I can't stand Brisbane... It's a terrible place with crap transport and is confusing as hell to drive around to boot.

Ive never driven there actually, melbourne is a nightmare in the CBD though, hook turns, streets that suddenly snake around and lead you in the wrong direction, no right hand turns at MOST intersections X_X

It was a hard Tuesday night last night, we were all sleeping off 12 beers each at the time of this thread.

I happen to find Melbourne SO easy to get around in, but I would never attempt to drive through the CBD.

It may be interesting for you to go and see an AFL match, which you should easily be able to get tickets for while in Melbourne, and there's no shortage of venues.

Shopping in Melbourne is actually a big treat too, and very not gay.
