That's a good question. I hope not.
It might just be the 30$ solution i'm looking for (i could finally get a tube amp for home), but no one seems to have tried one of these yet.
I doubt it can affect the amp itself if it's in the fx loop. Don't know.
The description on the web page is kind of "you-can't-go-wrong-ever-with-this".... Hum...

i dunno, maybe its a totally different thing than an attenuator...
An Attenuator just puts a load on the tubes from the front, right? and this controls from the effects loop?

I knew a guy that bought something like this, and said it worked great, but he moved right after he got it so i dont know about the long term ramifications.

Thanks!
I saw the same, but instead of being made for a Fender, it was described as for being made for Peavey's 5150 + others.

So, sounds like it could work on many type of amps.

I think i'll e-mail Carl (already spoke to him a couple of times, asked of this thing has a garanty, and yes it does).
Any specific questions you would like to adress?

Got the answer already!

My questions:

"Well.... Hi again!
Others things comes to mind regarding your volume box:

- Is there any risk for the amp and/or tubes?
- I see this thing also works for Fender amps. I've
first seen it as described for Peavey amps. Does it
work with any amp with an fx loop?
- How is it different from an attenuator? ( Like a THD
"hotplate" Those run for about 250$. What's the
difference?)"

Answer :

"It works on a different principle but achieves a similar effect as a hot plate at a fraction of the cost, will work on any standard effects loop, no way it can harm the amp, thank you".
...

I think that for that price, i'll give it a go.

on his site it does say something about fakes being sold and the ones on ebay might be those fakes. let me know about this because i was just going to buy the vox valvtronix 30 watt combo but if this works like he says it does then i'll get this thing. let us all know how good it is.

If you're turning up the power that high, but controlling it with this dinky little plastic box, exactly what is taking the load?

And if it's going in the effects loop and limiting the volume there, you're not getting the power amp tube overdrive, just the pre.

Sounds a bit suspect to me.

Maybe you still wanna get this Vox avt 30 (or the 50, on wich you can drop the wattage like the head).
The 5150 i was bidding on was won by someone else. :(

Now, i don't have what i need to try the device.
I'll still be looking for a 5150 in days to come... But damn, i can't wait to see what's new at winter namm. I'm really wondering about the mini-colossal (1x12 class A version of Satriani JSX...).
Stay tuned.
