Ok so I would like to get an overdrive pedal for my Pitbull. What would be the best option?

I tried out the DigiTech Hardwire Tube Overdrive last week and it sounded good, I unfortunately didn't have any other pedals to test it against though.

I've heard Fulltone OCD is good too.

Anyway, some advice is appreciated.

Well, the Tubescreamer is the classic favorite. I love my TS-808 reissue, and the Maxon OD-808 is supposed to be one of the best out of the box. The difference is pretty minimal though. A TS-9 or cheap TS-7 will do the same basic job with the same basic tone.

I also had the Digitech Bad Monkey, and it was a great pedal, especially for the price. It did sound a bit more digital/sterile and not quite as smooth as my Tubescreamer though, but I really liked the separate bass and treble knobs as opposed to the single tone knob on the TS. The new hardwire series OD looks pretty promising, I'd like to hear one next to a Tubescreamer.

Id say go Maxon OD9 since supposedly it doesnt cut as much as bass as the od808. You cant go wrong either way :).

when you run these, they go in front of the amp? and on the gain channel or clean? cause i used to only run them in front of a clean channel on a solid state head before i got my 5150. im talking about for a tube amp of course.

You run them in front of the amp on the gain channel, whether you keep it on while it clean is up to you.

If turning it off when you switch to clean channel would mean too much of a tapdance hassle to you *and* if your guitar has independent volume knobs for bridge and neck pickups (such as Gibsons), you can just roll back the neck volume a little bit and leave the pedal on.

Also, clean channel + TS-9 = very nice overdriven sound.

I have a T-rex Moller for sale. I only tested it for about 5 minutes into my Pitbull ul as it was a gift. I wanted to make sure it worked. It is a great sounding TS type overdrive with a seperate footswitch for a controlable 0 - 20 DB boost if you are interested.

Dude, if u want to over drive ur amp, then go with a lite od like the Maxon or the mxr. If u want a bunch of gain, for ur clean, then OCD or the dirty little secret

Well I will be using it primarily in the gain channel.

So the Maxon's are getting a lot of suggestions. Guess I'm leaning toward that.

Lovepedal Kanji Overdrive, it's amazing, it's a tube screamer on steroids, that's my fave, I've owned Fulltone Fulldrive 2, MXR OD, Tube Screamer, and for the money(it's cheaper than Maxon) it is amazing.

Well at this point it's a split between the OD9, OD808 and HardWire CM-2.

Upon reading up on the relatively new CM-2 people say it's very similar to the 808 but it has more tone shaping ability with the extra controls. Also it has some more bass, along with true-bypass.

The CM-2 at $99 is really tempting atm.

I have a CM-2 and it's totally worth it. I use it even more than my Bloody Murder OD if that says anything.

doesnt it get way too noisy and trebly n shit when you do this? cause before i got my own amps, when i used to play shows with other peoples amps, i'd have a mt2 into w/e it was they were using and almost everytime it sounded like shit. is it just the pedal?
