Recommendations for Jackson Kelly / Gibson Explorer cases?

You can look for the older Kelly cases that were rectangular. Like the normal Jackson/SKB type cases, but bigger. No side bulge.

In fact, drop SKB and Gator an email and ask if they still have the pattern available. I think the Jackson cases are done by SKB, but don’t quote me on that.

Gator used to make a configurable "Extreme Shape" case. I had one that worked great for some explorers and stars, was pretty cheap considering the utility. Look into that.

Yep, that's the one.

Held a Gibson V and Explorer, Jackson King V, Ibanez Xiphos (6 and 7), a BCR Mockingbird and a bunch of other stuff. Eventually traded it off with another guitar.

It took a little bit of "foam tetris" but it protected well. They used to be cheaper (bought mine for $55 new less than 10 years ago) and are big, but that's what I'd probably get.

Thanks guys. I'll have a think. Foam tetris seems like a good modular system and the flat profile is a bonus.
