I've been offered a rather used RG7421 for $300 as a first 7 string. The body looks beat up, like Steve Vai's Evo. Neck seems straight with just one nick on the back that doesn't affect playing. Black, one piece maple neck, original pickups, hardware, etc.

Worth it? What should I know, look for, etc?

I own a RG7621, best guitar I own, and mine is all beat up also. They just play good, can't explain it.

I forgot to ask about a case, but I'll be sure to find out. It seemed to play very well. Anything that I should be sure to check?

Well worth it. I paid $175 for my 7420 because, luckily, the kid had no idea what it was worth. I've seen them go for around $400. Go for it, man. :yesway:

^ EXACTLY the same thing happened to me with my 7421 - kid thought it was a 7321, and when I told him otherwise he took offence! I took his guitar, he took me money, we're both happy.

My FAVOURITE guitar, by the way. I'd have a very hard time chosing between my 7421 and my K7.. but I think the 7421 would edge ahead!

It's a good price. Just to let you know, though, I've seen them go for cheaper. There's one on the used GC website right now going for $199.99 (search for "106152543"), although I don't recommend dealing with GC since it's more than likely you will be talking to someone really incompetent and/or stupid.
