With all that maple, there is only one appropriate finish that will truly do it justice...

You canadians and your maple. Now I see why my girlfriend thinks your nation worships the maple leaf as a god. I'm starting to think it's just the tip of the iceberg.

Just so we're clear, that's maple syrup, not alcohol...

And if I'm dead wrong, well, sarcasm doesn't translate as well in text form...

Hi i´m back with some new "progress-photos" of the 7-string!
It took a bit longer since I had to do a lot of stuff for school ;)

Anyway there´s still some work left on the neck, then i need to fret the fretboard and put sidedots on it and yeah paint the whole thing ;)
tell me what you think so far!

(sorry for the bad quality...i used my mobilephone cam!)

here we go:

Did the saw slip when you were cutting the headstock or something? You dont actually intend for it to look like that do you?

Why does your fretboard feature a shelf for a locking nut when you´re obviously using a hardtail?

Good work either way. Looks sharp!

The problem with that though is when you clamp the nut down the strings will go sharp, so you'll have to predict how flat you have to tune the strings to get them to tune up right.

@HamBungler

A friend of mine got a [FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1]Ibanez MTM-1 with the same nut and has got no problems with the tuning.
and i also think there should be no problem as long as the screws arent overtightened.
but maybe i´m wrong.. I´ll see :D

thanks BurialWithin !

Yeah, that´s because the MTM has a "Fixed Edge" bridge which features finetuners just like a trem - something a regular hardtail misses.
Your best bet would be to leave the pressure pads off the nut or shape a special nut made of corian or something comparable which fits your neck.
