Okay, this topic has been discussed so much before, but I've failed to find a poll or even a dedicated thread on this, even though I believe there was one ages ago.

Discuss your favorite tunings.

I always use BEADGBE (rock standard). I used to have a guitar tuned a half step down from this and I have my craptastic Samick set up with whatever alternate tuning I find.

Some of my faves:
High A tuning: EADGBEA
High G tuning: EADGBEG
Down a whole step high G: DGCFADG
Whole step tuning: FGABC#D#F (with the high F a half step above E-330Hz standard.
Minor thirds tuning: BDFAbBDF (with the same high F as above)

Bob!!

I think our little boober has altered his drop F tuning of doom. I think its GDADGBE now. He took it up a step.

Not to sound too picky but shouldn't being tuned to all fourths, BEADGCF be on there as well?

I have all my guitars standard BEADGBE and once in a while i'll tune my S 7420 baritone (BEADF#BE) which is very interesting to write stuff in. I have my RG 7321 drop A (AEADGBE) which i've used for many years. :yesway:

Depends on who I'm jamming with at the time. I'll usually keep 1 7 in standard BEADGBE, 1 down a half step, 1 down a full step, and sometimes keep the other in BEADF#BE.

Isn't there some way to make a poll where you can pick a couple of alternatives, I cant pick only one.

Bob's tuning is double-dropped isn't it?

I play in drop-A (standard jazz) \m/ because the A hits harder than any other.

I guess I use standard jazz, but I tune a halfstep down too.

+1 for the all 4ths Eric :agreed:

For my UV7PW I'm using E2 A2 D3 G3 C4 F4 Bb4 with one of Garry Goodman's wicked shredding strings :shred:

But for my extended multi-scale 7 I tune all 4ths but down 1 1/2 steps from low B, so G#1 C#2 F#2 B2 E3 A3 D4.

I absolutely love the symmetry of all 4ths. All chord & scale & arpeggio shapes are consistent everywhere on the neck and over any combination of strings. Makes switching instruments from 4 string bass all the way to a 10 string guitar very easy.

I tune to A standard, 1 step below. But with my future baritone I might go standard as it will be a bit tighter.

This tuning interests me a lot. If I had a guitar I felt comfortable down a G#1 I'd try it. :D

I have my crazy drop A# plus high string tuning that I use and it works surprisingly well, plus I can play Dethklok stuff if I tune the lowest string up a step :metal:

Drop-A :yesway:

I love the possibilities of it... very fun! I'd actually do drop-G (drop-A but all down a full step) but my current guitar won't intonate like that. :( I'd love to have a 27" hardtail though, to use that tuning on :hbang:
