So it seems that Orange cabs, VHT amps, and ENGL amps, appear to be pretty big on this forum. I am wondering what pickups seem to come up a lot and are used by many of the users here?

I think there's far more Q-Tuner GAS than actual Q-Tuner users.

:ninja:

indeed. there are only 4 or 5 q-tuner users that regularly post.
same is true for lundgrens--that price tag keeps a lot of people at bay.

i'd say the most common pickups on this forum are BKP, dimarzio, and seymour duncan. EDIT: and EMG

for myself, my 7 has a q-tuner in the neck and BKP in the bridge.
my 6 has a seymour duncan in the neck and a vintage OBL in the bridge.

Obviously I'm well known as a BKP diehard and there are certainly a ton of converts here, but I'd still say DiMarzio users outnumber everyone. I'd say this is mostly because they've been around the longest, have the most 'big name' endorsers, and of course some are very good too.

If you go on other forums, it will be about 90% EMG. Just a lot of open minded guys here willing to try new things. Well, except the Orange thing thats getting out of hand ;)

In order my favorite are BKPs (on 7), ONI Custom (on my 8), DiMarzio (on 6ers), JS Moore, and GFS.

BKPs probably have about the best humbuckers. I love the Painkillers in my LP Custom.

For single coils, no one has mentioned Kinman. Kinman makes the best totally silent single coils for strats and teles. I have a set of Kinman Broadcasters in my tele and they are to die for. They're expensive, but they kill.

Kinman is getting ready to release a line of noisless P90s. I hope I get a chance to hear them.

Out of the pickups I've had in my guitars:

Bare Knuckle Nailbombs
DiMarzio Tone Zone, True Velvet, Air Norton 7, Super Distortion
Seymour Duncan JB TB-4, Jazz SH-2, Invader
Bill Lawrence L-500XL
EMG 81, 85
Stock Ibanez 7 Pickups (ouch)

The Nailbombs win, and it's not even close in my opinion. I just bought my 2nd set, and I'm going to try out one of BKP's single coils in my RG3550MZ.

DiMarzios and SD's seem to lack something after you've heard BKP's. But they are expensive.

Dimarzios and Seymour Duncans. Can't afford Bareknuckles....yet.

Oddly enough, all my trem equipped guitars have Dimarzios and my only fixed bridge guitar has Duncans. Hopefully this may change. And I'm waiting for the right guitar to give my EMGs a revival they deserve.
