Shams Ensemble at Schlesinger Center, Nov 7th

Not sure if this is of interest to anyone or not, but the Shams Ensemble will be performing at the Alexandria Campus of NOVA in the Schlesinger Center on November 7th at 8PM.

Tickets are $35.00 to $55.00 with a $5.00 discount to NOVA students.

Wow. That sounds so epic. I would definitely attend that if I lived anywhere near it.

These guys (Shams Ensemble) are great and recommend seeing them, you'll learn a few different rhythms and blends of rhythms. The tar work is very happening and can be used with other faster plucked/picked instruments fairly readily (minus interval differences which will need to be bent on Western instruments).

Another one to catch is the Hamavayan Ensemble with Hossein Alizadeh (pardon the crappy quality of this video):
