i do it, mainly for the pointy tip though. 60 grit on a block, it's rather quick. then i'll quickly hit each edge with one of the fine grit sanding sponges to take out any gouges that are there, so it's a smooth edge hitting the string. a pick doesnt last me long though, the tips/side wear smooth/blunt pretty quickly.
