i'm confused... 22 frets on a king v???
If you look at a lot of japanese custom 7-strings, they're all 22 fretters, so they were probably catering to that market when they had a run of these.

Being that I will soon have two 24 fret seven strings, the fact that this only has 22 frets appeals to me. Nothing beats the neck pickup tone of a 22 fret guitar, it is absolute butter.

BTW Elysian: The original King V, built for Robin Crosby, was 22 frets.

That was a Double-Rhoads though, wasn't it?

Well, that's what it's called now. They changed the name shortly after Dave Mustaine got his (which is the smaller body with 24 frets), and they started churning them out in mass. Same thing with Kelly: the original is now called the King Kelly, because the body is Explorer sized.

No, the late '80s Kelly is Explorer-sized. The King Kelly is even bigger, at least the originals w/the cutouts were. They're like 10% bigger than a standard Explorer, IIRC.

Yeah, man, I don't know... It looks great, but are you gonna have to switch out the p/u's? How small is the body on a Hellraiser? I do think the larger body guitars are cooler looking, but sound is more important.

Honestly, if you already have played it and you like the feel, I would buy it and have a pro stick in a pair of EMGs.

You realize you have just burned through all your karma points, and will now snap an A string at the next gig. Hell, I was totally hoping you'd snap one while I was playing your backup, forcing you to play the LTD. :fawk:

Wait a sec...do I really need a reason to buy more guitars?
