Basically in the title.

-Needs to be $500 or cheaper.
-New or used
-No locking bridges. Fixed bridge or vintage-style trem
-Needs to be green, teal, turquoise, etc
-Solid or trans finished

My friend is looking for a guitar for his first electric (he's been playing acoustic for years), and he has a preference for green guitars. I have a few in mind, but would love to see more options.

The Ibanez ARX 320MS is something I was looking at, but I'm not sure how good those old ARX's are.

Those old ARXs were pretty nice, if you've ever played an old SZ it's roughly the same quality.

Oh thanks for bringing that up, I was also showing him the SZ520QM.

If they're solid, that's good. When I see them pop up, they usually range from $200 - $300.

If you can grab an SZ5xx or about they're actually pretty great on average. Getting rid of those when they did was one of the biggest blunders Ibanez ever made. They were everything Schecter was doing at that time, but better.

Unfortunately by the time that auction is done, it'll be way out of his budget. He didn't seem to be a fan of the 26.5'' scale, since he says he has small hands, but he said the looks were perfect.

Well when the time comes for him, I'll stalk ebay for both.

Any other options out there? I know Washburn did a green Idol, but it seems really rare.

There's usually at least a few green guitars kicking around on Rondo, maybe check there. It's not hard to get something spec'd pretty well for under $500, and it'll have a warranty if there are any issues.

One of the first places I checked. At the moment there's a huge drought of green guitars from them. They used to have a bunch of tribal green AL's, but they're all gone.

Except for this one, but it's a baritone.

I'm pretty sure by the time he gets one (around March?), they might get a few more in stock.

There were some Green LTD EC-1000s. There is one in the GC used section but it's $579. Can probably find one on under $500.

I have 3 SZ720s. Great guitars and are pretty cheap. Only problem is they don't come in green, so you'd have to go with the SZ520.

I paid $400 for my Jackson SLSMG in like new condition. It plays amazing. Fixed bridge, EMG's, 81 & 85, neck thru, ebony fretboard. They occasionally go on eBay for in the $4-500 range.

I'm trying to find that model in green to show him, but I'm not having luck. :(

EDIT: Found it. They discontinued it. :wallbash:
