Hey guys, its been a bit of a rough week. On Sunday, my 5 year old lab/newfie/idiot escaped our yard and was hit by a car. Since we have no animal hospitals in Rochester anymore, we had to rush him to the animal hospital in Buffalo where he is currently residing. His right front leg is shattered to pieces, and will need to be amputated. This forum has always been one of my favorite places online to shoot the shit and now i'm asking for ya'lls help. The vet bills are estimated to be around $20,000. I am currently trying to crowd source as much as possible to cover the expenses. So with permission from a mod i'm just gonna post this here, no pressure at all but I'm just trying to share this literally everywhere I can think of. Every little bit helps, if you're feeling generous. Much love, thanks.

I'm so sorry, he looks like a real good boy. I went into serious debt to keep my cat alive a couple summers back. Watching him nap in my roommate's road case right now, he was worth every penny. I hope you and Wilbur have many more happy years together.

haven't posted any updates here, so here ya go! Wilbur had his leg amputated about a month ago at this point and he's doing great adapting to his new life as a tri-paw. He is extra cute and it is very hard to resist his begging face, but it is also very important that he doesn't get snacks because he needs to lose weight.

Really sorry to hear about Wilbur. It's such a traumatic thing to go through. My dog was hit by a car and ultimately passed away from his injuries a day later in November. I'm so pleased to hear you didn't have the same outcome. There are at least 2 dogs in my neighbourhood that have only 3 legs and they are flying about like you wouldn't believe....they adapt very quickly. Here's wishing Wilbur a long and happy life with you!

There are few things that fill my heart with more joy than a happy tripod doggo. So happy for you both.

I lost my best friend about 5 months ago to cancer. I know how it goes man.

In the interest in heading off things much worse than some internet rando being seen as insensitive I highly suggest pet insurance for everyone with one. I didn't have it and had to pay out of pocket as well. It was fucking insane. Just an option I highly suggest for all dog/cat owners.

Three legs and kickin is enough. Safe bet your pupper got that dawg in him to make it work.

I had a puppy that I loved dearly. She was hit by a car that was speeding dowm my childhood road. She had all the qualities of good temperament. I can empathize and I'm truly sorry for your this tragedy.
